The free-flight controls in SPOT can
be used to familiarize unmanned aerial vehicle operators
with the behavior and video that will result when flying an
unfamiliar UAV. SPOT provides a visualization and navigation aid
through an animated Map View of the simulated world. This bird's eye
view of the scene helps visualize overall status of the mission by
indicating vehicle position and orientation. Sensor location,
orientation, and fields of view are represented for each sensor. A
key SPOT design goal was to run in real-time on most modern
PC's--desktop or laptop.
